African Safari Animals Make Cool Wedding Gifts

African safari animals can be used to decorate the home. If the new couple can't go on actual safari then how about bringing this African decoration to them at home? Here again are some gifts that you won't find on a Macy's or Target registry so you know it won't soon be returned... and that's always a good thing.

These will make really cool wedding gifts because you can even take it to the next level by giving not just one one animal but make it a whole theme... give the big five African safari animals - African elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros.

African Safari Animals

The grid below contains an assortment of animals seen in Africa. Some are your typical African safari animals but others are just simpler animals that are native to the continent.

The items in this grid are of special importance because they are all handmade by African artisans across the continent. Some are from South Africa, some from Kenya and still others from Zimbabwe.

The tin animals are a new type of modern South African art which is very commonly associated with the slums and townships where they are commonly produced from garbage. The colors of the animals will vary depending on the can(s) used.

In addition to the wire and bead animals, some of the tin animals are also from Zimbabwe where this type of art is often referred to as slum art; the artisans work independently in their homes which are often located in the slums.

In order to make these items available to you, Fair Trade practices are put in place and payments are made so that the artisans can experience a sustainable livelihood in the midst of an unpredictable economy. By buying these animals (if you so choose), you will be helping to support them and families.
